    BOTOX Main Side Effects

Dr Felicity lists the main potential issues to be aware of with BOTOX treatment, including:

    1. Red marks and/or small bumps can occur at the injection point, due to using a needle – marks usually pass within 1-2 hours
    2. Occasional bruising which can last a few days, but can be covered easily with makeup
    3. Infection is always a risk where needles are involved, but this is minimised due to thorough cleaning before the procedure and makeup will be removed at the appointment
    4. Allergy to BOTOX is very rare indeed and of little concern. SkinViva’s aesthetic clinicians are prepared for this with the necessary medication just in case of allergic reaction

Dr Felicity also outlines areas for potential concern about results, things that may occur due to the way BOTOX works, by relaxing muscles:

    1. After a few days a ‘heaviness’ can occur around the eyes. The risk of this is minimised using careful techniques, but if it does happen, it will pass within a few weeks
    2. Similarly, if the forehead is treated just above the eyebrow, drooping may occur. This is managed through low doses if BOTOX does need to be used in the area
    3. After crow’s feet treatment, if injections are too close to the eye, the patient may experience dry eyes or double vision. SkinViva’s Aesthetic Doctors and Dentists are trained to position injections to avoid this can provide

    Felicity reassures patients:

“Because we’re trained the way we are, we put it in places that really should avoid that; but none of these things are permanent. So it’s unlikely to happen; if it did happen, please be reassured that it isn’t a permanent feature. After a few weeks it would feel an awful lot better.”

“If you had a dry eye we can do things like give you eye drops, just to make things feel a bit more comfortable.”

    The SkinViva Difference

“We’re all trained, we’re also trainers in treatments, so again you should be in really good hands coming to get your treatment done with us.

“We look at where the muscles are moving, treat accordingly and we treat your muscles, we don’t give everybody the same treatment plan – every face is different and also your wants and needs are different as well.

“When you come for your consultation, we’ll go through all of the risks and side effects with you again, just to make sure you’re 100% happy with your choices.”

    Results to Expect

“The results of your BOTOX will start to kick in after about 2 days, but it’s 2 weeks before it reaches its maximum potential, so we will give you a text anyway just to check everything is alright. At that 2 week point, if you have any further concerns then do feel free to book in a follow-up with any of our doctors [or dentists] and we’ll book that for you it’s really quick, really simple and our customer service team would be more than happy to help you with that”

    BOTOX® Injections

BOTOX® is the world’s most popular wrinkle relaxing injection, thanks largely to its proven efficacy in tackling the signs of ageing. BOTOX® relaxes the fine dynamic facial muscles which cause lines and wrinkles allowing the skin to drape more smoothly and with a noticeable and rejuvenating reduction in lines.

Common treatment areas include the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet.

SkinViva’s Doctors & Dentists offer a range of non-surgical treatments with advanced use of BOTOX® and fillers.

Their team of clinicians offer free consultations at their main clinic in Manchester and also work closely with partner locations across the North West. Clinics are held at salons and centres in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire, Manchester, Stockport and Bury.

A consultation is always required prior to any cosmetic treatment and this is arranged with an experienced aesthetic clinician. The same individual would carry out treatment and this can normally be done at the same appointment if required.
