Under Eye Filler is fast becoming one of the most popular dermal filler treatments in the aesthetic industry due to its ability to create stunning, natural results that can change the whole appearance of the face, knocking years off the client and drastically reducing signs of tiredness.
Head Clinician and Medical Director, Dr Tim Pearce, is one of the country’s leading injectors and has been providing advanced under-eye filler (Tear trough) treatments for the last five years, at his popular Manchester clinic and training school, SkinViva Training.
Dr Tim said:
“Under eye filler is one of the fastest growing treatments in popularity, as more and more people are discovering the amazing effect that it can have on the signs of ageing and tiredness.
“One of the most common complaints that I deal with from clients who visit my clinic, is about looking tired and ‘run down’, often even when they have had a good night’s sleep. Clients may have become conscious of this by themselves but sometimes their attention has been drawn to it by a relative or family member who innocently comments that they are looking tired that day.
“It only takes a few observations like this before my clients start to become very conscious of their appearance and in-particular how tired they are looking. This is usually what motivates them to come in for treatment, although they don’t always realise that their Tear troughs are causing the problem.”
Your Tear Troughs are the area just below the eye that loses volume and creates the hollowing effect that some people identify as a dark shadow. People of all ages can be affected by Tear Troughs, however, they are also a common symptom of the ageing process meaning that often, they will develop as people get older. This then creates the illusion that people are starting to look tired and worn out, even when they feel full of energy.”
Under eye filler or Tear Trough treatment as it is sometimes known, is administered using hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler. This fills the hollow and then integrates with the skin creating a
smooth surface which eliminates the hollow and reduces the appearance of dark shadows, making the client seem instantly fresher and less tired
HA dermal fillers remain in the skin for up to 18 months before breaking down and leaving the body. How long they last is dependent on factors such as which one you choose (some last longer than others e.g. Juvederm Vycross) and how quickly your body breaks down filler.
The beauty of HA dermal fillers is that they are all completely reversible. This means that if you have an adverse reaction or simply aren’t happy with your result, you can get it reversed by your clinician within a matter of hours using the reversal agent, Hyalase.
This is where things get a little more complicated. Only trained medical professionals such as doctors, dentists and nurses can administer Hyalase because it is a prescription only drug. This means that it is incredibly important to choose your clinician carefully. Technically anyone can administer dermal fillers as they aren’t yet regulated however, whether they should is another matter and is a cause of fierce debate within the aesthetics industry.
Most clinicians will agree that the safety of their client is the most important consideration when offering dermal filler treatments, but many people within the industry argue that it is impossible to ensure a client’s safety without having the tools or skills available to do so.
Choosing a medical professional for your treatment means that in the unlikely event that something goes wrong or you suffer a reaction, you are protected by the fact that you are being treated by a highly trained professional who is equipped and qualified to deal with an emergency situation safely.
Unfortunately, a beauty therapist would not be able to reverse a treatment and is not qualified to deal with an emergency such as anaphylaxis or necrosis, which is why you should always choose a medical professional for your treatment.
