Subtle Lip Restoration

As we age, lost volume often shows in lips with a few tiny shadows, little creases or lipstick not looking as good as it once did, this usually indicates lost volume. In this treatment we aim to restore your lips- shape, proportion and details stay as they always were.

Why choose subtle lip restoration?

Over time, we lose volume in our lips, fine lines mean they’re no longer smooth, and the lip borders and Cupid’s bow are less well defined.

Perhaps you’ve noticed one or more of the following when looking at yourself in the mirror:

  • Vertical lines above or around the lips (sometimes called smokers’ lines or lipstick lines)
  • Thinning lip volume – lips look less full or plump compared to previously
  • Flatter, less pronounced shape to your lips – particularly noticeable with a less defined shape to your Cupid’s bow
  • A less definite border (known as the Vermillion Border) to the outside of the lips
  • Flatter or less shapely ridge between the upper lips and the nose – known as the Philtrum Ridge

The SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians understand how changes in your lips can hugely affect confidence and rather than wanting to make a statement, you’re simply wanting to look more like the old you and feel the best you possibly can.

How does subtle lip restoration work?

The Aesthetic Clinicians are trained to look for very subtle signs of volume loss that can be replaced without adding size. Usually a smaller volume or lighter filler is used to make sure the result is very subtle.

    Got a Question?

Will I end up with a 'trout pout'?
Many of our patients ask if they’ll end up with a “trout pout” if they have a lip treatment. The answer is no. All of our Clinicians are very experienced at providing exactly the kind of look you’re after without everyone knowing you’ve had a treatment. The goal is to restore your confidence and subtly re-enhance the shape, definition and volume in your lips without making a statement to the world that you've done so.
What products do you use for a subtle lip restoration?
At SkinViva, we offer a choice of Juvederm Ultra or Juvederm Volbella for lip enhancement procedures. Both of these dermal fillers are used by our expert Aesthetic Clinicians to create beautifully-shaped lips that account for shape, proportion and definition. For optimal comfort both dermal fillers contain lidocaine, an anaesthetic commonly used by Aesthetic Clinicians for local numbing.

With Juvederm Ultra, you can expect your lip restoration to last around 6 months with great results throughout.

Juvederm Volbella is the newest addition to the Juvederm range and uses the latest technology to deliver longer-lasting results of up to 12 months.
    How does dermal filler work?
SkinViva clinicians use dermal fillers to replace lost volume, add shape and definition, and plump wrinkles and lines where time has caused the tissue to sag, lose elasticity, lose its shape, and form creases.
Will my subtle lip restoration hurt?
The SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians are understanding that everyone is different and that some people feel pain more than others. It's important to note however that due to three key factors most customers report feeling very little discomfort and often nothing at all. Firstly, our dermal fillers range contains lidocaine, a numbing agent, that when injecting helps to minimise pain. Secondly, we apply a high-strength anaesthetic cream when you arrive for your appointment to numb your lips prior to seeing the Aesthetic Clinician. Thirdly, and often underestimated, is the skill and technique of the SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians - the whole clinical team have all undertaken the very best training and continue to do so on an ongoing and regular basis. This world-class training in injection techniques and how to ensure a comfortable procedure means that you as the patient can relax and enjoy your experience with us.
What is dermal filler and how does it work?
Dermal filler is a soft, smooth gel made from hyaluronic acid – a copy of a naturally-occurring sugar in all our bodies. Today's advanced dermal fillers are temporary, safe, and all easily reversible. Typically, they last between 6 and 24 months and the body breaks them down naturally over time. As well as delivering consistently great results, the safety of today's modern dermal fillers is well documented with an extremely low allergic reaction rate.
What are the possible side effects involved in my subtle lip restoration procedure?
The most common side effects are redness, bruising and swelling at the areas where the dermal filler has been placed. You can use ice to reduce swelling but redness disappear over a few hours and bruising will naturally disappear over a number of days. We all bruise differently and so it's important to be aware of possible bruising in case you have an important event around the corner.

Patients who are prone to cold sores should be aware that there's a small chance of a breakout after treatment.

In extremely rare instances (1 in 15,000), it's possible that the bloody supply to the blood vessels in the lips can be disrupted causing scab formation and potential scarring. All SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians are trained in how to spot such symptoms and how to manage such side effects safely.
    Who should avoid dermal fillers?
Women who are pregnant and/or breast-feeding, people with severe allergies or a history of anaphylaxis and consumers of blood thinning medications such as Warfarin or Heparin.
What will my lips look like once the treatment wears off?
Over time your body will naturally break down the dermal filler placed in the lips. Once all the dermal filler has been broken down over a series of months (6 to 12 months depending on your choice of dermal filler), your lips will return to how they were prior to treatment. Your lips will not look any worse than they did prior to treatment.
