Nose to Mouth Lines

One of the most commonly requested treatments, the shadow that forms between the nose and the mouth is treated with a small amount of dermal filler. Results last 6 to 18 months and refresh by softening the shadow or crease that give the impression of lifting.

Why treat your nose-to-mouth lines?

The lines that form from the nose to the mouth can be a particular problem for some people. Sometimes this is something that runs in the family.

The result of severe nose to mouth lines is to create quite deep creases which are very noticeable.

The shadow that forms here can give the impression of a droop or simply a distraction from the eyes and mouth.

Nose to mouth line treatment using the latest dermal fillers is instantly rejuvenating. Softening or removing the shadow can almost declutter the face, allowing the most beautiful features to shine through.

    How do dermal fillers work?

How do dermal fillers work for nose-to-mouth lines?

Carefully placed dermal filler injections within the shadow can lift the line out instantly, and it can last 6 to 18 months per treatment depending on the filler used.

This treatment often works even better with a cheek treatment. A little push from below and a lift from above with small amounts of filler often looks more beautiful than just treating the line in isolation. This is because the loss or slippage of fat in the cheek is the cause, just what filler is great at replacing. In this way by combining treatment in the cheek and nose-to-mouth lines, we’re treating the cause and not just the symptom.

    Got a Question?

What are dermal fillers made from and how do they work?
Dermal filler is a gel made from hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring sugar that we all have. To resolve nuisance wrinkles, it’s injected beneath the surface to plump up surrounding tissue.
How long will I expect to see the results last for on my nose-to-mouth lines?
The SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians offer two treatment options for treating your nose-to-mouth lines. Customers can opt for the well-established and widely known Juevderm Ultra. Safe and with consistent outcomes, results reliably last up to 6-7 months. Another option is the longer-lasting Juvederm Volift which can last up to 15 months. Whichever product you go with, it's important to bear in mind that your lifestyle, the amount of correction required, and differing skin types will all have an impact on the amount of time your results will last.
Which dermal filler products do you use?
For the nose-to-mouth lines, the SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians let customers choose from Juvederm Ultra (lasting around 6 months) or Juvederm Volift (lasting up to 15 months). SkinViva always recommends Juvederm which we believe delivers the best and most reliable results.
How long will treatment of my nose-to-mouth lines take?
You can expect your procedure to last around 35-40 minutes depending on the amount of correction required. Your treatment session with include a consultation to ensure the SkinViva experts fully understand what you're looking to achieve.
What other treatments are worth considering to ensure I get the best out of the treatment for my nose-to-mouth lines?
The lines and wrinkles that form from the corners of your nose down towards the corners of your mouth can often be caused by your cheeks starting to lose volume and sag down thus causing the depressions and creases which become so noticeable to us. Cheek enhancement is therefore a great treatment to consider in combination with treating your nose-to-mouth lines. This is because you're truly addressing the cause of your nose-to-mouth lines and not just the symptom, which is the lines themselves.
Am I going to need a consultation before going ahead with treatment?
Our Clinicians will always provide a consultation before treating you, but you can usually have the treatment during the same appointment. Consultations are absolutely important to our practitioners understanding exactly what you want to achieve with the lines and wrinkles in your nose-to-mouth area.
How long does it take to see the results?
The brilliant thing about dermal filler treatments is that the results are immediate. It's important to note though that your skin will settle over the following few days - you'll then see the finished result in it's entirely!
How much pain is involved in having the nose-to-mouth lines treated?
The Juevderm products we use have built-in anaesthetic called lidocaine which helps with minimising discomfort during the procedure. In addition we apply an anaesthetic cream to help make your treatment as comfortable as possible. As with any medical procedures, a small amount of discomfort can be felt but our SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians are all sympathetic to go at a pace your happy with and understand your concerns so that most customers feel very little at all.
I'm pregnant or breast-feeding, can I still have my treatment done?
No, unfortunately we don't treat ladies while they're pregnant or breast-feeding.
When the results fade, will my lines be worse than they were before?
No. The lines you had in the nose-to-mouth area will instead return to how they were before you began your dermal filler treatment.
Will the dermal filler become hard or noticeable to touch?
No. The Juvederm dermal fillers we use take on the characteristics of the body’s own tissue so you shouldn't feel the dermal filler once it's in place. The product is similar to a smooth gel which is injected below the skin.
How much will my nose-to-mouth wrinkles treatment cost?
This depends on how many syringes of dermal filler you need to assure a fabulous looking treatment. For Juvederm Ultra, we actually offer a discount on additional syringes after the first. For example, your first syringe of Juvederm Ultra is charged at £259 and then subsequent ones are charged at £185 to give you better value for money. Your SkinViva Aesthetic Clinician will offer you honest advice about how much treatment you're likely to need before you decide to go ahead.
    Are dermal fillers safe?
Yes. Only 1 in 20,000 treatments result in an allergic reaction. Although dermal fillers can be reversed using another injection (hyalase), this requirement is extremely rare but you can be assured that our SkinViva team are all fully trained should this be required or requested.
What do I need to consider after the dermal filler treatment?
A dermal filler procedure is typically straightforward and needs no recovery time, so you can immediately crack on with your day. Customers should avoid excessive alcohol, exercise or the heat of the sun for the first 24-48 hours.
What happens to the dermal filler over time?
The gel is broken down naturally and reabsorbed by the skin. This means that over time your results will slowly fade and you'll require additional treatment to stay loving your look.
What side effects might I expect with having a dermal filler treatment?
Most possible side effects are related to the action of injecting the skin, not the product itself. These include: redness, minor swelling, itching, tenderness around injection site and potential lumps in the treated area. These can be reduced by massage.

The SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians and customer service team are all highly trained in how to deal with side effects to ensure you get the best from your treatment.
