Hand Rejuvenation

Our hands are always on show and exposure to the sun makes them age more quickly. The latest ‘skin booster’ injections rejuvenate hands by stimulating cell renewal as well as subtly replenishing volume. We also offer dermal filler injections to rejuvenate hands by replenishing volume.

Why hand rejuvenation treatment?

Our bodies are just as susceptible to the signs of ageing as our faces, yet the vast majority of time and money is spent on tackling facial issues such as wrinkles, lines, sagging skin and pigmentation – this can lead to a slightly ‘odd’ appearance of a youthful face but aged hands.

Our hands are always on show. So, not only do they get lots of exposure to the sun and environmental irritants that make them age more quickly, but they’re constantly on display every time we shake someone’s hand or touch our face. Our hands might give our age away even if our face doesn’t.

The appearance of ageing on our hands is accelerated by prominent veins and tendons.

Most people assume there’s nothing that can be done for ageing hands, but the opposite is the case – it’s just not widely known about.

    Dermal Fillers

The treatment with the most dramatic anti-ageing effects for the hands is Juvederm Volift dermal filler. The filler is injected below the skin’s surface through a fine needle in the backs of the hands. The backs of the hands are immediately re-plumped and have replenished volume, so that veins, tendons, joints are no longer as prominent. Results last for up to 12 months.

Juvederm Volift is an advanced hyaluronic acid dermal filler, which is based on a naturally occurring substance within the skin which retains water. Over time, hyaluronic acid in our bodies depletes with age, which can make the skin appear thinner and this is where dermal fillers provide benefit by replacing the lost volume.

Treatment is quick and highly effective with the benefits showing quickly.  The SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians use the finest needles available and a numbing cream is used if requires, so treatment is surprisingly comfortable throughout. What’s more there’s no downtime so you can go straight back to work after your hand rejuvenation procedure.

    Got a Question?

Do I need an initial consultation before hand rejuvenation treatment?
Yes, it's important for our experts to understand your medical history and also what you're looking to achieve from your treatment. At SkinViva, consultations are free of charge, so there's no cost to finding out more.
    Which product should I choose?
The SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians are all big believers in the effectiveness and we understand you want to see results. For a hand rejuvenation treatment, we have a couple of treatment options. They'll recommend the most suitable treatment after assessment of your hands.
When will I see the effects of my hand rejuvenation treatment?
Initial results are visible straight away and will continue to improve as skin cells are regenerated. Remember to allow a little time for any redness, swelling and bruising to go down.
Does a hand rejuvenation procedure hurt?
Most patients find the procedure on their hands comfortable with very little pain. In addition to the use of ultra-fine needles, we apply a numbing cream to the hands. Furthermore, our Juvederm range of dermal fillers all contain lidocaine - a local anaesthetic numbing agent for added comfort.
How many injections will I need?
This depends on the extent of the treatment needed. Your lifestyle, skin type, age all affect the condition of your skin and this is what informs how many injections you might needed. Typically a hand rejuvenation procedure might require 5-7 injections per hand.
How long will my hand rejuvenation procedure take?
The procedure itself can be completed in 15-30 minutes, but new customers will require a 45-minute appointment.
    Are these treatments safe?
Yes, we only offer treatments that we consider to be safe and effective.
What do I need to bear in mind after my hand rejuvenation treatment?
After injectable treatment, it's important not to get hot straight after treatment and so you should avoid drinking alcohol, exercising or too much sun for the first 24 hours. In addition, you may experience a little swelling, redness, itchiness or bruising straight after treatment.
    Where does the product go?
The injectable gel is broken down naturally and reabsorbed by the skin.
When the results start to disappear months later, will my hands be worse than they were before?
No. The appearance of your hands will instead return to how they were before you underwent your hand rejuvenation procedure.
Are there any side effects with hand rejuvenation injections?
Most possible side effects are related to the action of injecting the skin, not the product itself. These include: redness, minor swelling, itching, tenderness around injection site and potential lumps or bruising in the treated area. Any side-effects tend to be minor and pass within a few days.
What is dermal filler and how does it work?
Dermal filler is a gel made from hyaluronic acid – a substance that occurs naturally in the skin. To resolve nuisance wrinkles, it’s injected beneath the surface to plump up surrounding tissue.
Which dermal filler should I choose?
The SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians are all big believers in the effectiveness, longevity, and comfort of Juvederm dermal fillers. For a hand rejuvenation treatment, we'd recommend the longer-lasting Juvederm Volift dermal filler lasting potential up to 15 months in some cases.
When will I see the effects of my hand rejuvenation dermal filler treatment?
The volumisation results are visible straight away. Remember to allow a little time for any redness, swelling and bruising to go down.
Will the dermal filler feel hard or noticeable to touch?
No, the dermal filler will take on the characteristics of the surrounding tissue. Occasionally there may be a small lump post-treatment where the dermal filler has collected but this is usually very easily massaged away
How long does dermal filler last in the hands?
Using the longer-lasting Juvederm Vycross range (which includes our recommended Juvederm Volift product), results will typically last around 12 months but potentially up to 15 months.
How many injections will I need?
This depends on the extent of the treatment needed. Your lifestyle, skin type, age all affect the condition of your skin and this is what informs how many injections you might needed. Typically a hand rejuvenation procedure might require 5-7 injections per hand.
