Hand Rejuvenation

Our hands are always on show and exposure to the sun makes them age more quickly. Juvederm dermal filler injections rejuvenate hands by replenishing volume.

Why choose dermal fillers?

Our bodies are just as susceptible to the signs of ageing as our faces, yet the vast majority of time and money is spent on tackling facial issues such as wrinkles, lines, sagging skin and pigmentation – this can lead to a slightly ‘odd’ appearance of a youthful face but aged hands.

Our hands are always on show. So, not only do they get lots of exposure to the sun and environmental irritants that make them age more quickly, but they’re constantly on display every time we shake someone’s hand or touch our face. Our hands might give our age away even if our face doesn’t.

The appearance of ageing on our hands is accelerated by prominent veins and tendons.

Most people assume there’s nothing that can be done for ageing hands, but the opposite is the case – it’s just not widely known about.

Why choose dermal fillers?
Hand rejuvenation with dermal fillers...

The treatment with the most dramatic anti-ageing effects for the hands is Juvederm Volift dermal filler. The filler is injected below the skin’s surface through a fine needle in the backs of the hands. The backs of the hands are immediately re-plumped and have replenished volume, so that veins, tendons, joints are no longer as prominent. Results last for up to 12 months.

Juvederm Volift is an advanced hyaluronic acid dermal filler, which is based on a naturally occurring substance within the skin which retains water. Over time, hyaluronic acid in our bodies depletes with age, which can make the skin appear thinner and this is where dermal fillers provide benefit by replacing the lost volume.

Treatment is quick and highly effective with the benefits showing immediately. What’s more there’s no downtime so you can go straight back to work after your hand rejuvenation procedure. The SkinViva doctors and dentists use the finest needles available and a numbing cream is used to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

Got a Question?

Dermal filler is a gel made from hyaluronic acid – a substance that occurs naturally in the skin. To resolve nuisance wrinkles, it’s injected beneath the surface to plump up surrounding tissue.

Dermal fillers are used in various places of the face but predominantly the lower-half of the face. As well as plumping up lips, dermal fillers correct lines and lost volume around the forehead, cheeks and upper lip. They're used also to correct nose-to-mouth lines, mouth-to-chin lines, and upper lip lines. They also add volume to thinning or crepey skin across hands and the upper body.

The SkinViva doctors are all big believers in the effectiveness, longevity, and comfort of Juvederm dermal fillers. For a hand rejuvenation treatment, we'd recommend the longer-lasting Juvederm Volift dermal filler lasting potential up to 15 months in some cases.

The results are visible straight away. Remember to allow a little time for any redness, swelling and bruising to go down.

Using the longer-lasting Juvederm Vycross range (which includes our recommended Juvederm Volift product), results will typically last around 12 months but potentially up to 15 months.

Yes, it's important for our doctors to understand your medical history and also what you're looking to achieve from your treatment.

Most patients find the procedure on their hands comfortable with very little pain. In addition to the use of ultra-fine needles, we apply a numbing cream to the hands. Furthermore, our Juvederm range of dermal fillers all contain lidocaine - a local anaesthetic numbing agent for added comfort.

No, the dermal filler will take on the characteristics of the surrounding tissue. Occasionally there may be a small lump post-treatment where the dermal filler has collected but this is usually very easily massaged away

This depends on the extent of the treatment needed. Your lifestyle, skin type, age all affect the condition of your skin and this is what informs how many injections you might needed. Typically a hand rejuvenation procedure might require 5-7 injections per hand.

The procedure itself can be completed in 15-30 minutes, but new customers will require a 45-minute appointment.

Yes dermal fillers are based on a naturally occurring sugar in the body called hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is naturally broken down by the body over a course of months or in some cases years and is re-absorbed into the body. Furthermore, the allergy rates are very low with statistically only 1 in 20,000 people experiencing any kind of a reaction

With Botox and dermal filler, it's important not to get hot straight after treatment and so you should avoid drinking alcohol, exercising or too much sun for the first 24 hours. In addition, you may experience a little swelling, redness, itchiness or bruising straight after treatment.

The gel is broken down naturally and reabsorbed by the skin.

No. The appearance of your hands will instead return to how they were before you underwent your dermal filler procedure.

Most possible side effects are related to the action of injecting the skin, not the product itself. These include: redness, minor swelling, itching, tenderness around injection site and potential lumps in the treated area. These can be reduced by massage.

Allergic reaction rates to dermal filler are very low with statistically only showing 1 in 20,000 patients reporting a reaction.

Patients who are on blood thinning medications such as Warfarin or Heparin.
Women who are pregnant and/or breast-feeding.
