More about chin augmentation and re-shaping

A well proportioned chin has always been considered a thing of beauty and the exact proportions have been studied and defined by artists and used by aesthetic medical professionals to guide procedures.

In a new development, chin augmentation with dermal fillers has become the near instant approach to improve beauty with minimal risk, no down time and instant results that last 12- 18 months.

Many patients are unhappy with the shape of their chin and are surprised to learn that this can be quite quickly improved using modern aesthetic techniques.

SkinViva’s aesthetic clinicians are trained in reshaping the chin using the latest cosmetic injections.

A weak chin can be gently reshaped with a completely natural looking result, while unwanted dimpling can be smoothed out.

Chin augmentation and re-shaping using dermal filler

The SkinViva Clinician will add definition, balance and symmetry to your chin using long-lasting dermal fillers for a non-surgical chin augmentation. Dermal filer, made up of hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring sugar) is injected under the skin of your chin to add volume and shape.

Strengthening the chin can interestingly also play a role in rejuvenation and preventing premature ageing of the lower face, since the extra support created during a chin augmentation prevents the shadows that would form around the sides of the mouth, sometimes known as marionette lines. In other words, the weight of the cheek is better supported in the lower face by a more defined chin.

Got a Question?

Dermal filler is a gel made from hyaluronic acid – a substance that occurs naturally in the skin. To reshape the chin, it’s injected beneath the surface to plump up surrounding tissue.

Straight away! Just allow a little time for some redness and possible bruising around the injection sites.

Results using Juvederm Voluma can last up to 24 months. Note however that your lifestyle and skin type will have an effect on the length of time your treatment lasts.

Our Clinicians will always provide a consultation before treatment, but – like with our Botox – you can usually have the treatment during the same appointment.

Our most popular dermal filler, Juvederm, has an in-built anaesthetic called lidocaine which enhances comfort. We can also use anaesthetic cream to improve comfort further.

No. The dermal fillers we use take on the characteristics of the body’s own tissue so the product itself won’t be noticeable.

4-6 injections would be a rough indicator but this differs from person to person

The procedure itself can be completed in 15-30 minutes, but new customers will require a 45-minute appointment.

Each 1ml syringe of Juvederm Voluma is charged at £395. Only one syringe may be required but this depends on the amount of correction needed.

Yes. Only 1 in 20,000 treatments result in an allergic reaction. Although dermal fillers can be reversed using another injection, this requirement is extremely rare.

You may get some redness, bruising or swelling which will go down over a series of hours or days. Try to avoid exercise, heat, and alcohol for 24 hours.

The gel is broken down naturally and reabsorbed by the skin.

No. Your appearance will simply return to how it was before you began dermal filler treatment.

Most possible side effects are related to the action of injecting the skin, not the product itself. These include: redness, minor swelling, itching, tenderness around injection site and potential lumps in the treated area. These can be reduced by massage.

Women who are pregnant and/or breast-feeding, people with severe allergies or a history of anaphylaxis and consumers of blood thinning medications such as Warfarin or Heparin.
