Cheek Enhancement

Cheek enhancement can be crucial for beauty, playing a key supporting role to other features.

It is treated with small dermal filler injections under the skin to sculpt the shape of the skin surface. The results last 6 to 18 months depending on the product used.

Why choose dermal filler for cheeks?

Cheeks are central to the face, and a beautiful cheek supports the eyes, can improve the jawline and lift shadows out of the mid face and is key to having the ideal heart shape to the face.

However, some people naturally have a flatter cheek bone, or else have lost volume and definition as you age. Loss of youthful plumpness in the cheek area can be quite ageing. For those who succeed in losing weight or are naturally slim, the lack of volume in the cheeks can lend a gaunt appearance.

For others it’s about definition. Prominent cheekbones are seen as a sign of beauty but when the cheeks are flat or hollow, then you may want to emphasise the contours for a more striking look.

You may see shadows or dips around the cheek bone associated with fat slippage or loss

SkinViva Aesthetic Clinicians can restore or beautify your cheek in a short procedure with instant results using the latest dermal filler injectable products.

    How does cheek enhancement work?

    Dermal fillers for cheek augmentation

Over time our cheeks can flatten and our original natural high-point can start to appear lower. Changes also take place under the surface of the skin where the gradual loss of supportive tissue structures and the long-term effects of gravity mean that larger areas of your face lose volume and shape. These changes particularly affect the cheeks and chin.

Carefully placed injections add volume to beauty points or replace volume where it has been lost. We use one of two dermal fillers, both designed to add lift and shape and show instant results that last 6 to 24 months.

Advanced dermal fillers can therefore restore our ageing loss of volume in the cheeks, help replenish hollows, and work to build up cheekbones. Juvederm voluma is designed to tackle larger areas of volume loss for a flattering and refreshed look which lasts.

    Got a Question?

What are dermal fillers made from and how do they work?
Dermal filler is a gel made from hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring sugar that we all have. To resolve nuisance wrinkles, it’s injected beneath the surface to plump up surrounding tissue.
    What products do you use?
The SkinViva aesthetic medical professionals only use the best products available on the market. We're big believers in the quality and results gained from the Juvederm range. For cheek enhancement, we use the longer-lasting Juvederm Voluma which can last up to 24 months.
How long will I expect to see the results last for?
Treatment in the cheeks using Juvederm Voluma can last up to 24 months. It's important to bear in mind however that your lifestyle, the amount of correction required, and differing skin types will all have an impact on the amount of time you get out of your treatment.
How long will my cheek enhancement procedure take?
Typically 45-60 minutes will be required to complete your procedure. Each treatment includes a full consultation to ensure we understand the look you're trying to achieve.
How long does it take to see the results?
The great thing about treatment with dermal fillers is that the results are instant. It's important to note though that your skin will settle over the following few days by which time the final result can be seen.
Before going ahead with my cheek enhancement, do I need a consultation?
Our Clinicians will always provide a consultation before treatment, but you can usually have the treatment during the same appointment. Consultations are absolutely important to our aesthetic medical professionals understanding exactly what you want to achieve.
Will having injections in my cheeks hurt?
Our recommended dermal filler, Juvederm Voluma, has a in-built anaesthetic called lidocaine which enhances comfort. In addition though we apply an anaesthetic cream to really help make your treatment as comfortable as possible. As with any medical procedures, a small amount of discomfort may be felt but the SkinViva aesthetic medical professionals are so advanced in their techniques that most customers feel little or nothing at all.
Will the dermal filler become hard or noticeable to touch?
No. The Juvederm dermal fillers we use take on the characteristics of the body’s own tissue so you shouldn't feel the dermal filler once it's in place. The product is similar to a smooth gel which is injected below the skin.
How much will my cheek treatment cost?
Each 1ml syringe of Juvederm Voluma is charged at £395. Your SkinViva aesthetic medical professionals will give you advice and guidance from the start based on what you're looking to achieve so that you know how much you can expect to pay before committing to any treatment.
Is cheek enhancement using dermal fillers safe?
Yes. Only 1 in 20,000 treatments result in an allergic reaction. Although dermal fillers can be reversed using another injection, this requirement is extremely rare.
What do I need to consider after the dermal filler treatment?
There is no recovery time with dermal fillers, so you can immediately resume normal daily activities. Avoid excessive alcohol, exercise or sun for the first 24 hours.
What happens to the dermal filler in my cheeks over time?
The gel is broken down naturally and reabsorbed by the skin. This means that over time your results will slowly fade and you'll return back to the Skinviva aesthetic medical professionals for additional treatment to maintain your look.
When the results fade, will my cheeks be worse than they were before?
No. Your cheeks will simply return to how it was before you began dermal filler treatment.
What side effects might I expect with having my cheeks volumised?
Most possible side effects are related to the action of injecting the skin, not the product itself. These include: redness, minor swelling, itching, tenderness around injection site and potential lumps in the treated area. These can be reduced by massage. If you are prone to cold sores, there is a small chance that one will occur following a lip enhancement. In very rare instances (1 in 15,000) blood supply from the smallest vessels can be disrupted causing scab formation and, in some cases, scarring. The SkinViva aesthetic medical professionals and customer service team are all highly trained in how to deal with side effects to ensure you get the best from your treatment.
I'm pregnant or breast-feeding, can I still have my cheeks done?
Although there's no specific studies which show it's dangerous to use dermal fillers with pregnant or breast-feeding mothers, we take a cautionary stance and don't carry out treatment until you've completed breast-feeding your baby.
