    Got a Question?

Do I need an initial consultation before my BOTOX® treatment?
Yes, you will meet one of our aesthetic medical professionals. The consultation will also give you chance to ask any questions to make sure that you are fully aware of the facts, including any risks and side effects, before going ahead. Your clinician will suggest the most appropriate treatment. In some cases, they may even advise against treatment if that's in the patient's best interests. They'll take great care to explain everything and advise on what's best for you. If you wish to go ahead, you can normally have the anti-ageing injections treatment at the same appointment, but there is no pressure to do so.
    What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® is a brand name for botulinum toxin, which can be used cosmetically to relax wrinkles and temporarily lessen the appearance of lines on the face. BOTOX® injections are generally thought to be the best treatment for the forehead area, frown lines and crow’s feet near the eyes. Other options you might consider are dermal fillers, which are good for restoring lost volume, smoothing out deeper lines and creases for a younger look. If you are considering an anti-wrinkle treatment you must first have a consultation with a qualified medical professional. Botulinum Toxin is a prescription only drug and can only be administered by someone someone who has been medically trained to perform the treatment safely.
    How does BOTOX® work?
BOTOX® injections temporarily relax the muscle that causes skin to crease, making wrinkles fade or disappear altogether. When BOTOX® is injected into a muscle it activates a process called selective muscle denervation. This blocks the chemical signal telling the muscle to contract, stilling the fine dynamic facial movements which cause lines and wrinkles. Although the BOTOX® leaves your body naturally after around 48 hours, the effect of the treatment is to trim the receptors of the muscles that have been injected. These receptors, which receive messages from the brain telling the muscle to move gradually grow back over a period of several months. 'Trimmed' receptors mean the resulting effect is wrinkles and lines have been temporarily reduced as a result of less movement from the corresponding muscle. Done well, the effect is a subtle, natural improvement. After 2 to 5 days you’ll start to notice the effect, which is at its best after 2 weeks.
    Which areas can BOTOX® treat?
BOTOX® is most effective where lines are formed from muscle contractions alone. It stops the underlying muscle movement, so that the skin doesn't crease. BOTOX® therefore works very well in the upper face where wrinkles are deepened by smiling and frowning - e.g. frown and laughter lines.
How soon will I see the results of BOTOX®?
Initial results are seen within 2-5 days and continue to develop for up to 2 weeks.
    How long does BOTOX® last?
Over 3-5 months, the muscle gradually grows new receptors and is able to contract again. This is the time when BOTOX® has essentially 'worn off' and treatment can be repeated.
How long will the process take?
We allow a 45-minute appointment for new patients to allow for a full discussion with our aesthetic medical professional, including vital medical history to check that you are suitable for treatment.
    How much will BOTOX® cost?
BOTOX® is charged per muscle group – i.e. each individual area requiring treatment. If you need an immediate top-up for the same injection, it is free of charge. Please see our prices tab above.
    Is BOTOX® safe?
Yes, when a qualified practitioner administers it. Be aware that BOTOX® is a prescription only medicine and it is important to choose a suitably qualified and experienced professional for safe treatment.
Is there anything I need to do after treatment?
Very little. We recommend: - Gentle movement of the treated area with mild facial exercises after treatment to enhance results - For the first 2 hours, do not to rub the affected areas - For the first 24 hours, don’t do any vigorous exercise, drink alcohol or have prolonged sun/heat exposure
Are there any side effects with BOTOX®?
Some, but most are related to the actual act of injecting the skin, not the product itself. These include: minor redness or swelling around the injection site (which vanishes within 1-2hrs), minor bruising on occasions, headaches and a very small risk of infection around the entry point. In very rare cases, clients can experience a temporary droop of the eyelid. Side effects, risks and complications will all be explained in full detail during your consultation, so that you can make a fully informed decision based on the facts.
    Who should avoid BOTOX® ?
There are certain contraindications, including neurological diseases such as Myasthenia Gravis and Parkinson’s Disease, taking certain antibiotics (namely Erythromycin) and blood-thinning medications including Warfarin or Heparin. Your consultation will include taking relevant medical information and any issues will be discussed.
Will BOTOX® build up in my system?
No this is not the case. In fact, BOTOX® leaves your body through normal waste processes within a few days. It is the effect of the BOTOX® on your muscles which last for 3-4 months.
What kind of men have BOTOX®?
We're finding increasingly a very varied mix of men who are having BOTOX® and dermal filler treatments in order to reduce wrinkles and restore volume. We have male patients from various sectors including construction, professional, retail... You name it. There doesn't seem to be a physical type of man who has cosmetic procedures. It's a very individual decision.
