The Sun has launched a new campaign to improve safety of Britain’s booming aesthetic treatments industry.
While the treatments are increasingly popular, the Sun is raising awareness of the sad fact that the industry remains unregulated, so there are no minimum requirements for practitioners to have any particular qualifications, skill or training before they buy or inject dermal fillers. The Sun’s campaign has attracted high profile backing.
TV’s Lorraine Kelly said:
“It’s so important to make young women aware of the dangers of these procedures,” she said.
“I’d never take the risk myself as I’ve seen what happens when it all goes horribly wrong.
“Lives are wrecked in search of a warped idea of ‘perfection’.”
Lizzie Cundy has shared her own experience of fillers going wrong:

“It makes me sick to think I risked my sight.”
