Surgical Nose Jobs Decline – Are Fillers the Answer?

14% Less Nose Job Surgery in 2016 BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons)

The latest figures from BAAPS (British Association for Plastic Surgeons) revealed a 14% drop in the number of surgical nose jobs in 2016 amid a 40% drop in the number of surgical procedures performed overall.

In their latest press release, consultant plastic surgeon and former BAAPS President Rajiv Grover commented on the trends:

“In a climate of global fragility, the public are less likely to spend on significant alterations and become more fiscally conservative, by and large opting for less costly non-surgical procedures such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion, rather than committing to more permanent changes.

“The background of negative news and economic uncertainty seems to have re-invigorated the famous British ‘stiff upper lip’ –achieved, however, through dermal fillers and wrinkle-relaxing injections, rather than surgery!”

    Rhinoplasty – Nose Job Surgery

Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is an instance which illustrates this well. The nose job is now the 7th most popular form of plastic surgery in the UK overall and for women, but numbers are declining by 14% year on year. For men, the nose job is the top choice of plastic surgery procedures, but has seen a massive 35% drop in males choosing the procedure.

Yet while surgical procedures are falling, this is a procedure where non-surgical options are now available in leading clinics. The non-surgical procedure offers a series of compelling advantages too.

    Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

    • Relatively quick procedure – takes 30 minutes
    • Non-invasive procedure uses long-lasting dermal fillers to reshape the nose – no need to ‘break’ the nose or even use a scalpel
    • Blends out bumps and humps, addresses asymmetry – creates a more harmonious balance between the facial features
    • Price is a fraction of surgery – non-surgical nose job at SkinViva costs £595 compared to the cost of surgery for nose reshaping is in the order of £4k, so it is a big investment. No general anaesthetic, no long recovery, no cast or bandages required
