A petition has been started on the UK Government and Parliament website entitled
“Aesthetic medicine treatments only to be performed by Doctors, Nurses & Dentists”
The petition explains:
“Everyday we are hearing horror stories involving inexperienced and unqualified people administering medical treatments such as botox, derma fillers etc.
“There is a need to regulate the aesthetic medicine industry finally.”
The petition will run for a total 6 months and has a deadline of 8th July 2018.
As an official UK Government and Parliament petition, it requires a minimum number of signatures for further action to be taken:

Shockingly, there are no legal restrictions at all on administering cosmetic injections at present.
Many clients would simply assume that someone carrying out injections had a medical background and suitable qualifications and training, but no training or professional qualifications are required at all for injecting BOTOX® or dermal filler.
BOTOX® is a prescription-only medicine, which means that people injecting BOTOX® should work with a qualified prescriber in order to get a prescription for each patient, but media reports have revealed that some are managing to circumvent this law too.
Dermal fillers are not prescription-only, so any unqualified persons may purchase and inject.
SkinViva’s policy is very clear and clients should be reassured:
SkinViva was established in 2008 and has an excellent reputation for offering high quality skin treatments in the North West.
Their team offer free consultations at their main clinic in Manchester and also at an extensive choice of conveniently located locations across the North West. Clinics are held at salons and centres in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire, Manchester, Stockport and Bury.
A consultation is always required prior to any cosmetic treatment and this is arranged with an experienced aesthetic medical professional. The same individual would carry out treatment and this can normally be done at the same appointment if required.
