Here are the key tips for lip and dermal filler aftercare:

    Do’s:

    • Apply an icepack to reduce swelling after your treatment. You may need to do this every 10 minutes, for about six hours.
    • Take Arnica and Bromelain tablets. These are natural supplements that help to reduce bruising.
    • Eat an ice lolly or cold fruit like fresh pineapple to help reduce any swelling on the inside of your mouth.
    • Stay hydrated. Make sure you keep drinking water to stay hydrated, as this helps speed up your body’s healing process.
    • Eat fruit and vegetables that contain a lot water, to help to stay more hydrated.

    Don’ts:

    • You should avoid doing any strenuous exercise for the 24-48 hours following your treatment.
    • Do not expose the area of treatment to intense heat i.e. don’t use tanning beds, saunas, steam rooms etc.
    • Do not drink alcohol for at least 24 hours after your treatment.
    • Avoid sleeping in a position that puts pressure on the treated area. Elevating your head on a pillow is the best way to sleep for the few days after the treatment.
    • Do not use oil-based make-up in the area or any skin products such as AHA, retinols or vitamin C therapy.
    • Do not have a facial or facial waxing for at least two weeks after the filler treatment. You should also avoid having a Glycolic or AHA peel, IPL, microdermabrasion or any other similar treatments on your face.

By following this list of do’s and don’ts you will be able to adequately protect your treated area and ensure that the treatment results are as good as possible.

    • Steve Smith says:

I like how you mentioned that you could reduce the swelling of your lips by using ice. My sister told me last night that she was planning to have a lip enhancement treatment to achieve her ideal facial look. She asked if I had ideas on the safest lift enhancement approach. I appreciate this helpful facial guide article. I’ll tell her she should consult a lip filler treatment service as they can provide more information about the dermal filler treatment process.
