Medical Director and Head Clinician Dr Tim Pearce, has given his advice on why he feels that cheek enhancements are one of the most valuable and effective treatments to have.
Cheek enhancements are performed using dermal fillers and can be administered using a needle or, if the clinician prefers, an advanced cannula technique for reduced bruising and swelling.
Depending on what filler is used, a cheek treatment can last anywhere between 9 and 18 months (some clients who have been treated with the Juvederm Vycross range have reported their results lasting for over 2 years!).
According to Dr Tim, there are three main reasons why he treats cheeks:
The first is to bring you closer to the ideal ratio between the width of the cheeks relative to the nose. Scientifically speaking, the closer you are to this ratio, the more beautiful you will appear! Cheek enhancements can also alter the shape of your face to make it appear more attractive. For example, some people may have a square jaw line and little definition in their cheek bones, so adding some volume to their cheeks could make their face more heart shaped.
The second reason why you would treat cheeks is to restore volume that has been lost with age. This has an added benefit of pulling the skin upwards which can improve other areas of the face such as nose to mouth, mouth to chin lines and even the jawline!
The final reason to treat a cheek would be to improve the contours of the face. This is partly an anti-ageing treatment but can sometimes affect young people too. Using a cheek enhancement to smooth out any irregularities in the mid face that may have appeared with age can reduce shadows and lines creating a smoother and more beautifully shaped cheek.
