Catching up with our Clinic Co-ordinator

Ahead of the exciting job opening for SkinViva’s new Clinic Co-ordinator, I caught up with our last Co-ordinator Sammi to get the low down on everything you need to know about the role.

Sammi joined the team in 2013 as a Customer Service Co-ordinator and although she loved working with the girls, she was always looking for a new challenge:

“As the Business grew, we realised that we were going to need someone to be in charge of the general day to day management of the clinic. This would involve setting up the Doctors’ rooms, our offices and generally making sure things were running smoothly for our staff and clients. Eventually the Clinic Co-ordinator role was created and they offered it to me!”

Sammi grasped the role with both hands and she turned out to be a natural! However, after working as Clinic Co-ordinator for a year, a new challenge caught her eye:

“After around a year in my role as Clinic Co-ordinator, a new position opened up in SkinViva Training which is SkinViva’s sister company. SVT trains doctors and nurses to use injectables and has been growing rapidly over the last few years.”

It was decided that in order to deal with SkinViva Training’s growing workload, they were going to need an extra pair of hands.

“I was offered the role as Training Co-ordinator at SVT which requires me to book models and organise our training courses. It’s a lot of fun and was a natural progression for me but I have to admit, sometimes I miss the craziness of being Clinic Co-ordinator!”

What did you enjoy about the role of Clinic Co-ordinator?

“Being Clinic Co-ordinator was probably the most varied role that I have ever had, no two days are the same. I was responsible for everything in the back office and a lot of front of house work too.  A typical day could include anything from ordering uniforms, cleaning and prepping rooms, liasing with suppliers, welcoming clients or even DIY work! But that was why I loved it so much. I am a very active person and this job required me to be on my feet all day, so it was ideal for me.”

What type of person would be best suited to this role?

“The Clinic Co-ordinator role requires you to have very good interpersonal skills. You never know who you will be speaking to or what you will be dealing with from one day to the next, so being a people person would be a massive advantage.

You have to be cool and calm headed, it is a very fast paced job and working for a company like SkinViva can be very full on, so it is essential that you are able to prioritise your responsibilities whilst also being flexible enough to juggle your ‘to do’ list if something urgent comes up.

Most importantly, attention to detail is a must for this role. You will have a lot of responsibilities and will also have the authority to use your own judgement. Being methodical in your approach is very important to ensure the smooth running of the clinic. If you pay close attention to the little things, you will find that the bigger things take care of themselves.”

What is the best thing about working at SkinViva?

“I can honestly say that SkinViva is a fantastic company to work for. We are a young, family run business that truly cares for our staff. As we are constantly growing there are always new opportunities coming up and everyone’s voice is heard. Just look at me, I started in Customer Service three years ago and have already had two promotions! Our small team is one big happy family and face every new challenge together and as we grow even more, we are always excited to welcome new members”
