    Where are my tear troughs?

    where are tear trough

Most people refer to the area as the ‘under-eye’. People also call them under-eye bags or dark circles if they are fat or fluid filled.

Tear troughs are the groove that sit between the lower eyelid and cheeks. This groove can become more of a hollow if there is shadowing.

Who is eligible for tear trough treatment?

There is a common misconception that the reason someone may have prominent tear troughs is because of aging or tiredness.

Yet a lot of the time it is also down to genetics. Both a 20-year-old and 70-year-old can have tear trough treatment.

Under-eye bags form because of a loss of volume in the mid cheek region. When the mid cheek loses volume, it makes the under-eye bag appear bigger, which in turn makes people look older and more tired.

This is where replacing the volume with filler comes in…

    Why have tear trough treatment?

Under-eye shadows have a huge impact on confidence and happiness levels. It is frustrating when people don’t feel that they look as awake and energetic as they feel on the inside.

Here is a Google review from a client who recently had treatment:

‘’I had the tear trough fillers with Dr Ahmed and my only regret is not having done it sooner! I have always had an issue with my under-eye area and as I got older makeup no longer seemed to be enough.’’

‘’I am so pleased…my eye area looks brighter less hollow and even my dark circles seemed to have lightened as there is less of a shadow.’’

What is the actual procedure like?

A hyaluronic acid-based filler is injected between the lower eyelid and cheek. This is to fill the area, so it is level with the rest of the skin and smoothed out.

Fillers in this area are long lasting so can last up to around 2 years.

The treatment costs £595 using Juvederm Volbella.

    Dr Tim actually says

‘The treatment of the shadow that develops under the eyes has become one of my favourite areas to treat.’
