“Everyday I beam with pride. I am so genuinely proud of what a wonderful company we've built over the years. What more could I ask for than staff who show a love for our clients?”
Miranda Atkins - Customer Experience Director

About Us - SkinViva Focus on You!

Feeling your best means treatments tailored to you.

It’s all about understanding. Before doing anything, our expert clinicians will sit with you, look at the problem area through your eyes and discuss the best solution. Which means your treatment will be tailored to you, subtly enhancing and refreshing your natural features.

It’s an approach which is undeniably simple, yet effective. Just ask our clients!

Clinical Director

“Be kind, for everyone we meet is fighting a hard battle.”

This is Dr Tim’s mantra, and one that rings true on a daily basis for the founder of SkinViva, who observes there’s always more than meets the eye: “It always strikes me that when you’re in a conversation with someone, we’re nearly always in the midst of dealing with important challenges, but you would never guess on a casual chat.”

Experience in both life and work has revealed there’s always more than we see on the surface: “I think most people look at others and assume their lives are simpler and easier than they really are, but we usually never know. I notice it also with how people feel about lines and wrinkles; often not noticed by others, these seemingly little issues can make a huge difference to how people feel and interact with others.” And it’s this keen eye that helps Dr Tim deliver when he comes face to face with clients everyday: “We really only see a very small part of the inner world of other people, and knowing this can help you to be kind and patient.”

Dr Tim founded Skin Viva in 2008 after working as a GP. He qualified in medicine in 2006 following his studies at Warwick and Leeds universities. He spent his childhood in Johannesburg, South Africa before moving to the UK at the age of 14. Favourite treatments include those that are tailored to the whole face, including the combined nose and chin augmentations with dermal filler, as he says it reveals key features, like the eyes and mouth. He believes it gives a more beautiful look, but to the untrained eye it’s hard to spot why.

Beyond his professional life, Dr Tim is enjoying family life too and loves spending time with young son, Jasper. The two year old is wild about animals, and Dr Tim hopes to take him to visit a South African game reserve in the not too distant future.

What’s the difference between dentists and doctors?

Within our clinical team, we have some dentists and some doctors. Amongst the doctors, some are GPs and we also have a dermatologist and anaesthetist. Each clinician brings knowledge and experience from their own speciality that collectively make the team stronger (for example the dentists have very advanced knowledge of facial anatomy). Each clinician has done at least a 5-year university degree, and then spent time in practice using their clinical skills before joining SkinViva. The doctors have medical qualifications and are regulated by the General Medical Council, and the dentists have dental qualifications and are regulated by the General Dental Council. All are trained to a very high standard of skill and knowledge in the field of aesthetics, and receive ongoing training to keep their skills at the cutting edge of best practice in our industry. As a courtesy, you will see our dentists and doctors referred to with ‘Dr’ before their name throughout our website. You can find information about their individual clinical backgrounds above. Please contact us on 01618651141 or contact@skinviva.com if you would like further details about our clinical team.

Dr Sharan Uppal

MBBS (Merit), MRCGP, DFSRH
Aesthetic Clinician

Born and bred just across the Pennines in Huddersfield, Dr Sharan qualified from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne as a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2003. For Dr Sharan, joining SkinViva has been one of the best decisions ever made. She says, “Everyone at SkinViva is genuinely friendly, supportive and there is a great team spirit. I feel part of something special, as there is a great ethos amongst everyone to deliver the best service we can.”

As SkinViva treatments go, full non-surgical facelifts, or ‘Vivalifts’ are Dr Sharan’s favourite, allowing her the chance to apply the whole scope of her aesthetic skills, to rejuvenate and freshen the full face. Expert, Dr Sharan says “this is a really satisfying treatment to carry out, as you see a beautiful transformation before your eyes, without making the client look like anyone other than a fresher version of themselves.”

Sharan has wonderful childhood memories of touring California as a 10 year old with her family. It was her first holiday, which she says opened her eyes to what a large and varied world we live in. The trip took her from areas of thick snow in the Zion National Park, to sweltering heats in Death Valley. It’s a trip she’d love to do all over again with her own children.

It’s with her kids that she now likes to bop about the house with the music blasting, and this good fun mum loves nothing more than spending time with her family outside of work. Sharan also loves all manner of films from Hollywood to Bollywood and everything in between – including horror movies, despite her aversion to being scared to death.

If she were to return in another life, she’d come back as herself, just as she is! Who wouldn’t want to return to dance around the house to Chaka Khan’s ‘Ain’t Nobody’ or Luther Vandross’ ‘Never Too Much’ – or her current favourite track (on repeat of course) ‘The Rhythm’ by MNEK? We only wish we could see that, Sharan. Do you sing-along too?

Dr Felicity McGuire

BDS (U.MANC, UK)
Aesthetic Clinician

Having grown up in Hale, Dr Felicity, a dentist by profession, didn’t fly too far from the nest when she chose Manchester University to study Dentistry.

A perfectionist at heart, Dr Felicity loves creating the perfect smile and seeing the positive change to people’s confidence it can make so it didn’t take long before she became interested to see what beautiful results could be achieved by treating the whole face. Keen to expand her knowledge and skills, Dr Felicity embarked on a SkinViva Training aesthetics course and it was there that our Clinical Director, Dr Tim, spotted her obvious natural talent for injecting and also her warm and engaging way with clients, and approached Dr Felicity to join the SkinViva team as a trainer and clinician. She has not looked back since!

Amongst all the treatments, cheek and lip enhancements quickly became a firm favourite of hers to carry out. Noticing the simple way they enhance the natural beauty and femininity of the face she developed a deep interest in the differences between a masculine and feminine face and how the treatment could provide benefit to transgender men and women. She is now able to provide a comprehensive range of treatments designed specifically to masculinise or feminise a face such masking a prominent brow, adjusting cheek height and of course a gorgeous luscious lip. Dr Felicity is truly passionate about this line of work so if you identify as transgender or gender variant (TV, TS, IS, CD, NB, GQ, QQ) then do feel free to book a consultation.

Outside of work Dr Felicity can often be found at what she calls her “little slice of heaven” in Wales with her husband Richard and 2 young children Freya and Samuel.

Dr Ahmed El Houssieny

MBBCH
Aesthetic Clinician

Dr Ahmed says that what he loves about working in aesthetics is the ability to make people happier and more self confident about how they look; which is an incredibly rewarding job.

“There is nothing more pleasing for me then to see a client come in with a problem and leave feeling problem solved!”

“The best part is the moment the patient looks in the mirror for the first time to see the results of the treatment – that is the most thrilling for me!”

Dr Ahmed joined SkinViva’s team of aesthetic doctors and dentists in 2016, attracted by the professional team who aspire to nothing short of excellence and demonstrate an unrivaled ethical approach to patients.

His particular specialty is in treating frown lines using Botox injections. Most patients frown a lot and this can look quite negative as well as ageing. Treating frown lines enables patients to project a more positive look to life. The procedure is very quick and easy for the patient, yet highly effective.

Dr Ahmed takes a lot of pride in his work and aims to please people. He says:

“I am an absolute perfectionist and will never accept second best.

To further his knowledge, Dr Ahmed is working on a masters in aesthetic medicine and regularly attends scientific meetings to keep abreast of the latest cutting edge techniques and products that can be used to help his patients get the best results they deserve.

Dr Aimee Clark

BSc BDS MFDS RCSEd
Aesthetic Clinician

York Born, Dr Aimee, a dentist by profession, joined the team in summer 2016, bringing with her an impressive resume of qualifications.

With degrees from top universities in both Biology and Dentistry, a membership at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh over three years as a practising dentist under her belt, and aesthetics training from SkinViva Training, you can be sure that with Aimee, you are in extremely safe (and steady) hands!

You may be wondering what SkinViva’s newest star dentist likes to do when she’s not collecting professional accolades. Well, according to Aimee… anything at all as long as it involves food! SkinViva’s resident northern lass likes nothing more than unwinding in her favourite restaurant after a long day at work. So, what does this Yorkshire girl choose to chow down on? Pie and mash, fish and chips? A hearty stew? Not quite… Dr Aimee has eschewed her traditional roots in favour of fine dining. Not only is her favourite restaurant in up market Cannes, but SkinViva’s gifted gastronaut also hopes to travel the world one day, stopping off at every 3 star Michelin restaurant that she can find along the way (sounds pricey!).

Whenever she’s not sampling the culinary delights that her home city, Manchester, has to offer, Dr Aimee can be found delivering fabulous results at the SkinViva clinic.

Her favourite treatment? Dermal Fillers. Aimee loves seeing fantastic results straight away and believes that the best feeling you can have as an aesthetic dentist, is when a client looks in the mirror after their treatment and says “Wow!”

To this dentist, making a positive difference to the way that someone feels is what it’s all about and at SkinViva, we couldn’t agree with her more.

Dr Adam

MBChB, BSc Sports Science, MRCGP (2016)
Aesthetic Clinician

Manchester born Adam works as a GP in and around Manchester, but felt the 10 minute consultation he has with patients as a GP means he always feels like he is rushing. Not so at SkinViva.

“When I first started training with SkinViva what struck me most was the time that Dr Tim and the other clinicians took to talk and make their clients feel comfortable – and really listening to find out what it is the client really needed.”

With a newborn baby at home, Adam is a busy man, working part time as an NHS GP, a clinical lecturer at the University of Manchester Medical School, a GP for Babylon Ltd, and an Aesthetics clinician! But Adam is far from feeling burnt out:

“My diverse career means that I get to do different things each day, and get to challenge myself on a weekly basis – personal growth is very important to me.”

When not working one of his numerous jobs, Adam enjoys playing Golf, tennis, cycling, and keeping fit, as well as playing the piano. He also enjoys travelling, having spent over a year exploring Asia and South America, his highlight being 9 weeks doing medical work in Nepal as a student. He was also a former member of the England Karate Team and trained with them for years while attaining his black belt, bringing confidence, coordination and focus into his life.

Adam prides himself on offering safe and attractive treatments, which brings him great job satisfaction.

“This job is by far the most rewarding one I have” says Adam.

His favourite treatment is Lip filler and Non-surgical Rhinoplasty –

“I feel that with both of these treatments the immediate effect is so visible, and it can have such a positive effect on a client’s confidence. I also feel extremely lucky to work with such a great team here at SkinViva”

Miranda

Customer Experience Director

Miranda grew up in Durham in the North East and qualified with a Bachelor of Science degree from Bristol in 2002. As a SkinViva stalwart, she’s well placed to reflect not only on her own pride in relation to the company, but also on the achievements of the whole team: “I am so genuinely proud of what a wonderful company we’ve all built over the years.” Miranda also highlights the level of skill our doctors have demonstrated, meaning the company is able to lead the way with cutting edge treatments like VivaLifts, using exclusively developed SkinViva techniques.

Her personal favourite is the Tear Trough procedure, noting that, “our doctors are genuine experts at this relatively unusual treatment.” And, perhaps more to the point, she observes, “you look like you’ve been airbrushed!” Fiercely proud of the team, there’s only one thing missing from a day in the SkinViva office – and that’s the ability to press the pause button, so that this natural superwoman can fit even more into her busy schedule. Since that’s not possible, Miranda likes to make lists instead.

Yes. Let’s get to the lists. In fact, to say she ‘likes lists’ is an understatement. By her own admission, Miranda is an obsessive, compulsive list-maker. And she’s just discovered a list-making app; the power of list-making, permanently at her fingertips. But as long as she can note down what she has ‘to-do’, then all is fine with the world. Speaking of which, Miranda has been lucky enough to see lots of it! In 2005, she backpacked to Tonga in the South Pacific. The cherry on top was a candle-lit, secret cave proposal by her now hubby. And we just know it was the lists that swung it for him!

When she’s not writing lists, or travelling the world, you’ll find Miranda at one of Cheshire’s soft-play haunts with her 2 year old. However, she hopes soon to make the leap from ball pools and climbing frames, back on to the ski slopes, to enjoy one of her favourite hobbies, and is now on the look out for a toddler sized snowboard.

Joanne

Customer Experience Manager

Jo has spent, what she describes as, two exciting years with SkinViva and loves working for the firm, saying, “it’s a small friendly company that offers the best service and really cares about clients.”

Jo grew up in Stockport and is City and Guilds qualified in hair and beauty. Favourite procedures include treatments to the cheeks as she says, “restoring the volume in this area helps improve the appearance under the eyes and around the nose and mouth, so you see all over benefits.” Outside of work, Jo is enjoying family life with her boys. Inevitably, in a house full of them, home life usually concerns all things football; watching it, playing it, talking about it. As the only girl in the house, it’s no surprise that Jo resorts to talking to herself from time to time.

Life is good though. So good in fact, if she could return in another life, Jo would come back as exactly who she is, saying she feels very lucky. Life could only be improved if she could slow the hands of time to spend more time having fun with her boys. But, as it waits for no man (which is particularly true in her house) she’s enjoying every moment! And she hopes to enjoy a dream holiday in Disneyland very soon too!

Keely

Customer Services Supervisor

Mancunian girl Keely, has been with SkinViva working within Customer services for just over 2 and a half years. She says “she loves her SkinViva family and enjoys making relationships with lovely clients.”

Coming from a Dental aesthetic background, she has been a qualified Dental nurse since 2007. Has anyone told tooth-fairy fan, Katie?!

Of all our procedures, Keely describes The Vivalift as “pure genius”. She says she “loves how it can make someone look so well & fresh, without giving away that they’ve had a treatment.”

Keely likes cake. And lots of it. She dreams of a day she can consume copious amounts of Lemon drizzle, without the proverbial ‘moment on the lips’ going any further than just that.

In order to eat cake in a guilt-free fashion, Keely likes to be on the go, enjoying travelling to interesting and varied parts of the world, from Las Vegas to Iceland. And she’s certainly had some interesting and varied experiences so far.

While Keely was travelling across South East Asia, she was caught up in not one, but two natural disasters in 36 hours in Thailand; a flood first, then a landslide on one of the world’s most dangerous roads. A scary experience, but thankfully, she made it back to Manchester in one piece!

If Keely could come back in another life, she’d return as The Queen’s cat, admiring its indulged life in Buckingham Palace. We didn’t know The Queen had a cat?

Jade

Customer Services Coordinator

With her qualifications and training in Air cabin crew, travel destinations and world hosting, Jade would make the perfect travel companion. You could travel in both style and safety with Jade, but the one person she’d like to jet off with next, is her mum, who she’d love to take to New York. Having never been abroad, Jade thinks the Big Apple would be her mums perfect first time trip.

Given a choice of superpowers, Jade would become invisible, travelling the world and leaving her credit card behind! Jade may be Manchester born and bred, but it’s a place of beauty further north that has her heart. Jade adores the Lake District, throw in a country pub and you have her idea of heaven!

Jade also likes to make time for tea, and traditional tea rooms have a place in her heart too, the chance for a muse over a pot of tea gives Jade the opportunity to consider her other loves which include picking up the pen to write Philosophy and Stand-up Comedy. She also thinks hard about the issue of animal rights, fundraising and raising awareness wherever possible.

Among her favourite Skinviva treatments is the lip filler, Jade has had this procedure for 8 years and she couldn’t imagine not having it now!

Nik

Customer Services Coordinator

‘Viva España’ and ‘long live music festivals.’ These are Nikola’s two most important mantras when it comes to holidays. For the last half decade, Nikola’s jetted off to the cool Benicassim Music Festival in Spain, combining what she loves most: gigs, good music and Spanish sunshine. Being beneath southern skies may be her idea of holiday heaven, but taking to them is another matter entirely. When it comes to flying, Nikola likes to get on and off again, as quickly as possible – and she’s not so keen on the bit in between.

Breaking with tradition, Nikola would love to see for herself the dramatic and breathtaking landscape of the Grand Canyon – somewhat different to her usual holiday haunt, but she knows she’ll need to pluck up the courage for a day’s flight to Arizona first! She’s working on that. Ironically, given the choice of superpower, Nikola would like to be able to fly. Maybe that way she wouldn’t have to trust a pilot to get her there, rather just herself. Whew. It’d be a long trip! But she’d put her superpower to even better use than a long journey to the US, by escaping the rat-run of rush hour, her least favourite time of day. Can we join you, Nikola? As journeys go, rush hour is the one Nikola would like to cut short, but once in work, Nikola says the journey she takes with clients, from initial phone call through to post-treatment feedback is the most fulfilling of all. That, together with fantastic colleagues, means her nine-to-five mantra can only be one thing: ‘Viva SkinViva!’

Nikola’s favourite SkinViva treatment is cheek filler, for its subtle effects that can be discreetly transformative. She believes it’s transformed the look of her face.

Emma

SkinViva’s fabulous receptionist Emma joined the team in the summer of 2016 and can be found charming the clients in reception every week day evening!

Despite being one of the newest additions to the team, this Bury born mum of two has quickly established herself as the clinic’s resident ball of energy, in fact… She never stops!

Whenever she’s not at work, Emma devotes her time to running her own travel agent’s business, which she affectionately refers to as her ‘hobby’ (sounds more like a full- time job to us!).

You would think that having two jobs would keep most people busy enough… But not our Emma. In her ‘free time’ this whirling dervish likes nothing better than a good workout session in the gym, followed by a bit of quality time with her husband and two daughters, although she does admit that her personal guilty pleasure is catching up on the Archers.

Living the fast- paced lifestyle of a fitness fanatic, workaholic and devoted mum has its perks and you won’t be surprised to learn that keeping in shape is one of them. In fact, Emma’s lifestyle keeps her in such good shape that a few years ago she managed to lose a whopping 5 stone and hasn’t struggled to keep it off since (we’re not surprised).

Keeping eternally busy doesn’t just mean always being on your feet. As Emma well knows, it also means nurturing the mind and with a degree in interior design and a diploma in forensic science, we’re pretty confident that our energetic receptionist has this one covered too!

Between her academic achievements, two jobs, family life and working out daily, we can’t help but wonder what Emma does to relax! Perhaps a quiet evening in with some easy listening?

So what is Emma’s favourite music?

Anything 80’s! (Ahem …maybe not then).

Claire

Our receptionist Clare, joined the SkinViva team at the beginning of 2017.

A mother of toddler twin boys and an 18yr old girl, you could say she has her hands full!

With a strong background in catering, Claire even built up her own catering company, supplying the food & refreshments for events across the North West. Now working part time in our clinic on the side, she gets to play to her strengths – being front of house and chatting to our lovely clients.

You wouldn’t be wrong in thinking Claire gets little time to herself, but this summer she managed to squeeze in a 6 week bootcamp – we don’t even know where she found the time! Following a high protein meal plan and training 3 times a week, Claire managed to lose over a stone and is looking fab-u-lous for it. Achieving her goals whilst still having plenty of energy left over for her colleagues and our clients, she is something of a wonder woman.

But when Claire does stop for a second, she loves nothing more than escaping to her caravan with family.

Saffron

Saffron has got a real interest in all things fashion and beauty! One minute she’s spraying herself with her favourite Chanel perfume, the next minute the postman is dropping off her latest online shopping spree. She’s definitely the go-to girl in the SkinViva clinic for the latest trends and gets super excited to see our clients results after having the Da Vinci lip treatment.

As one of our youngest members of the team, she has certainly got a lot of hunger. After finishing college and pursuing her love of beauty, Saffron worked in a salon where she built up her beauty and customer service skills. And this is also where she got introduced to SkinViva.

Her friends, boyfriend and her two dogs are her world, enjoying nothing more than snuggling in with her Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Her guilty pleasure include sugary drinks (including in her tea) and Mars ice-cream bars.

Ellie

Receptionist

Ellie Joined the reception team in April 2016 and brought with her over 20 years’ experience in Customer Service roles.

As our head receptionist, you will often find this Wythenshaw lass manning the helm while entertaining clients with her many stories.

Spend a few minutes in her company and you will soon learn that Ellie is the bonifide action woman of the team, with a passion for all things water related! And as a fully qualified swimming instructor and lifeguard, we can’t think of anyone we’d rather have around in a crisis. In fact, Ellie is so highly qualified that in 1988 she achieved the prestigious ‘Royal Lifesaving Society’s distinction award’, after completing real rescues from the open waters around Hull (we bet she needed her thermals on after that one!). This makes Ellie one of the highest qualified Lifeguards in the Northwest, so we could think of no one more suited to the job of SkinViva first aider.

After many years spent keeping the nation’s pools safe, Ellie hung up her swimming cap and whistle for good to become a receptionist at the local swimming baths… or so she thought. It wasn’t long before the Wythenshaw water lover had found herself back in the pool (training adult beginners) after her boss decided that her swimming skills were needed more than her admin!
In her spare time, SkinViva’s sporty spice like’s nothing more than working up a sweat and can often be found jogging and cycling around Manchester (that is, of course, when she isn’t swimming) so it will come as no surprise that Ellie also has a triathlon or two under her belt, even achieving a gold medal in 2008 despite partying until 2AM the night before… so she does have a wild side!

So, you might be wondering what could possibly be left to achieve for our lifesaving, triathlete… well what else but formula one?! Ellie has competed in the F1 women’s stock car race and even dealt with her car radiator blowing up mid race, sounds terrifying!

You may think that you now know everything there is to know about our head receptionist… Well think again. SkinViva’s resident action woman also has a spiritual side and has revealed that she has some spooky psychic abilities!

Aesthetics and palm reading? Now there’s an idea (although Ellie probably saw it coming).

Our approach

We know how important getting the natural look you want is, to feeling good about yourself.

We also know how easy it is to get it wrong. That’s why we focus on you before, during and after your treatment. We believe the secret is understanding how you feel about the way you look and the overall results you want, rather than looking at individual lines or features.

During your treatment we’ll use our skill and in-depth knowledge of the science of beauty – based on perfect proportions – to make small, natural looking changes that make a big, overall difference.

This is known as the 'blink' concept.

What is the 'blink' concept?

The way our brains subconsciously process small details into an overall picture instantly. Essentially it means that your friends may notice you looking well, but not notice exactly what's changed. Afterwards we'll take care to make sure you're happy with the results in the long term too, and advise you on maintaining a look you'll love.
