3 steps we take to avoid infection!

Obviously, infections are something we want to avoid and although treatable, they are a great inconvenience and a source of worry for any patient.

So, what do SkinViva do to avoid infection?

Dr Adam explains…

  1. No Make-up
We advise patients to come in without ANY make-up at all, because if we wipe this off in clinic, it can cause tiny little cuts to the skin which are a greater source for infection.
  1. General cleanliness.
At SkinViva, we use a clean work space onto which we place sterilised needles, clean gauze, freshly opened filler syringes etc. We will wash our hands and wear new gloves, and ensure that we clean the area on your face or neck carefully before any treatment begins.
  1. Post-treatment
Straight after treatment, we would always recommend you not to touch your face in the area that has been treated and if you have to do anything, wash your hands very well beforehand! Make-up should be avoided for a minimum of 6 hours (but ideally 24 hours), the reason being that make up is often full of germs, apparently more so that a toilet seat!

Even with all these things sometimes people can still develop infections, so we advise that if you feel an infection may be starting, then to contact the clinic straight away and we can review things and prescribe antibiotics, if necessary.
