How is BOTOX Priced?

One of the most commonly asked questions for clients considering BOTOX treatment for the first time concerns price.

Price is an important factor and quotes can vary enormously. Companies are free to set their own prices – but there are a couple of things to be aware of.

    BOTOX ‘Price by area’

When it comes to BOTOX pricing, one of the first things you’ll notice is that prices vary by ‘area’. If you look at prices for wrinkle-relaxing treatment, many websites and companies give a range of prices for 1, 2, 3 or more areas – generally up to a maximum of 5.

    What does this mean?

Providing the actual BOTOX itself is a ‘fixed cost’ for the practitioner and pricing according to the number of areas treated works on the principle that more areas being treated means a greater amount of product being used. Treating several areas also means more of the practitioner’s time.

If you’re having BOTOX for the first time or trouble-shooting a specific problem like the vertical line between the eyebrows (known as ‘glabellar’), then one area is likely to be sufficient.

However, many clients find that a lighter touch of BOTOX in a couple of areas can give a more flattering and natural result. For example, treating forehead lines AND glabellar – or adding in crow’s feet or laughter lines.

    BOTOX ‘Male Supplement’

Most companies charge a small supplement for male BOTOX patients. This is based on the fact that more product needs to be used for men.

This has been proved scientifically. Science Daily published research, saying:

‘Men often require more units of BOTOX than women which may be because men have a greater muscle mass than women. Similarly, it has been a common clinical observation that larger, stronger men need more units per treatment area than slender, small-boned men’
